BIOGRAPHY
Jon is an attorney in the firm’s Zoning Practice Group. Jon has both private and public sector law practice experience as a transactional, land use and municipal law attorney. Jon spent nine years in municipal law departments rising to the position of City Attorney for the City of Glendale and an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Sedona where he developed extensive experience in municipal law, economic development deals, zoning and land use, annexation, zoning litigation, elections law and litigation, and legislative lobbying and government relations.
Jon worked on numerous resort, tourism and retail projects while at Sedona and was the primary attorney for Glendale on the sports complex developments, including Jobing.com Arena, Westgate, Zanjero/Cabella’s, University of Phoenix Stadium, the Dodgers/White Sox spring training facility and the adjoining Main Street mixed-used development.
Jon’s current practice focuses on land use and zoning, land use litigation, transactions and development agreements and representing clients before all levels of government.
Jon currently serves as a Major in the Army National Guard as a Judge Advocate, where he has served numerous tours of duty including a middle east deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Jon is the author of Terrorism: War or Piracy? Arizona Attorney, April, 2004, and is a frequent speaker at land use and municipal law conferences in Arizona and nationally.
Jon was admitted to the Arizona Bar and the U.S. District Court of Arizona in 1993 and the United States Supreme Court in 2005.
